It appears that governmental censorship has reared it's ugly head in the UK this week.
Protest have apparently been happening around the world as a result of the draconian measures being taken by the UK government.
What is the reasoning for locking up journalists and threatening media outlets who DARE to report on it? Is this individual getting to close to something too big that might topple the British regime? I don't know, but it does seem a little odd.

Free speech advocates and supporters of Robinson's movement from Melbourne to Berlin came out by the thousands to protest the Friday arrest outside of Leeds Crown Court while Robinson was reporting on a pedophile grooming trial via Facebook livestream. Within six hours of his detention, Robinson was slapped with a 13 month prison term for violating a prior suspended sentence for a similar offense.

To be honest, this hasn't received much coverage in this country purely because the average person doesn't have the time of day for someone like Tommy Robinson. The former leader of the so-called English Defence League is a laughing stock.
He was arrested for contempt of court, and for risking causing the trial to collapse with his comments made. If that had happened, then he would have only been preventing justice from being carried out. He also pleaded guilty to the charge of contempt of court. There was a court order in place to prevent details of the trial leaking while the trial was underway. He keeps trying to film the defendants during the trial, which can't happen if justice is to be carried out properly.
This isn't the state trying to protect those accused of grooming and peadophilia, but is instead them trying to prevent mob justice from taking over. That's something I agree with upon reflection.
His many arrests over the years include mortgage fraud and violence. This isn't a fighter for peace, justice or morality, but a sick and twisted individual who is only out to further cause division amongst communities and line his own pocket along the way.
I had a quick look through the usual British media outlets, and everyone had reported on it, it just isn't newsworthy to most. The BBC, Guardian, Independent, Sun and Mirror all had stories on this.
An interesting take you bring to the party. If I hadn't seen this VIDEO which shows him "apparently" filming said perpetrators as they were going to prison - not court, then your comments would make sense to me. That is not to say that the video is accurate either, just another view on this issue.

Is it the footage that starts about 1:30 into the video? That's the Leeds Combined Court Centre, that's where the trial was taking place. It's an odd video though, as he does say something about their verdict, so why would they be walking freely outside... seems suspicious for sure. Hard to know what the context of that video is.
I'm incredibly critical of the British government, and the judiciary system (so the whole nazi pug case for example) but I'm critical of all sources. The original article was claiming that the government were placing media bans down, which is completely inaccurate. The judge, not the government, had placed an injunction (I think that's what they call it here) preventing details of the trial being talked about in the media before or as the trial is happening. That was lifted in light of Mr Robinson's behaviour and contempt of court. These sick individuals are not the focus of all of this coverage, but instead our supposed protagonist gets all the spotlight. I mean, he plead guilty. He didn't contest the charges. That doesn't scream freedom fighter to me. He's a career criminal with an agenda.
I think what bothers me about these types of stories is how inflammatory they are over what boils down to a near null-point. There are atrocities and down-right criminal acts being perpetrated by the British government, and this all just distracts from that. The god damn royal wedding and things like this are used as smoke screens to push through legislation that would otherwise be getting media attention and would be thrown out. Our prime minister is a spineless, moral less corrupt individual who is surrounded by equally as disgusting and slimey MPs... but I digress.
What is your opinion of these kinds of stories, like this Tommy Robinson stuff, being used as a further smoke screen to distract from the real problems?
I live in a conservative voting area of the country, despite me being more centre-left. Even those who voted for Brexit, which is ~50% of the country, they don't trust or pay any attention to the EDL, BNP or the utter scum who run these political scheme parties. None of them have any power, not a single seat anywhere.
I'm sorry I've waffled on for so long here bud. I was talking to a friend of the family a couple of weeks ago about alternative political systems I've been thinking about and playing around with in my head. I ended up writing some of it down, and gonna try to put out a post in the next week or so about, and I'd really like to know what you think about it all. Kinda like a replacement for our current system, but yeah anyway I'll go now and stop clogging up your comments!

You surely have an ally here in you disdain for government and distrust of judicial systems. Corruption does appear to be rampant.
I also believe we are often fed smokescreen material to keep us busy while some controversial bill is quietly slipped through. Nothing like a water cooler conversation about a royal wedding to keep keep everyone distracted from what's really going on.

As you well know here in Venezuela, we are living in terror of persecution, journalists tortured, imprisoned and even dead. We know a little about these abuses by social networks, and now they are imposing laws so that the reality of what we are unfortunately living is not transmitted. Sometimes I think that in reality the people have the government they deserve, because there is a large minority that applauds their abuses, distribute money left and right and there are many people who like the easy, thank God work from age 14 , I gave my best years to my country, and I still maintain myself despite being a widow, I am still not a burden for my daughters, thank God I enjoy good health. I receive a lot of support from you, that I will never have to give back so much help. Thanks to people like you, we still do not have to kneel for a food bag misery. I am sure you are currently experiencing many more problems politically in Venezuela than people in most countries experience in a lifetime. I agree that people often have the government they deserve because most just keep voting for a face and name they recognize rather than researching the history of and future plans of an unknown. Stay strong!
It hurts me a lot to admit that unfortunately he is absolutely right, and there are some very famous words of our liberating father who said, "They have dominated us more by ignorance than by force." Ignorance is getting bigger every day. With the poverty and hunger that we are going through, there are people who say "no matter the hunger or the needs, in order to defend the revolution" Anyone from another country who reads about what happens daily here, thinks or that we are masochists or that we are a poor people, Venezuela is categorized as the State with the most violence, sends police and military operations to popular areas that end in a large number of extrajudicial executions, that pattern of arbitrariness and harassment has been transferred to the political crisis, Government officials arbitrarily raid homes and attack them looking for people who think they are related to demonstrations. "The persecutions they are the order of the day, human rights are violated, we are forbidden to speak about the reality of this nefarious government. Every country does, we just don't always see or hear about it.
Serious problem they want to censor these governments do not want the world or their own people to realize the dirty things they do, something like this happens in my country but here and censorship is extreme just enough to say a bad word of the government or that show the reality of some place or street that does not work, the reality of hospitals, the food here you have to stand in line to be able to buy food and if in many cases it does not usually reach this is horrible with these rulers
Keeping their dirty deeds hidden seems to be the agenda of the political class. People must wake up and realize this before any meaningful change can happen.
Pity many countries have a government that does not take care of their affairs, I do not know how people like these come to power, I think if with lies and promises that is why they arrive there and then take off their masks and make theirs, hopefully we can leave of this I hope some day those governors have the pants well put

As they have already said here in Venezuela this situation is lived in that as they want to finish with every channel or peridista that transmits real news about them CNN in Spanish they took it out of the air overnight because they gave the news of Venezuela what were happening
