The temporary autonomous zone, Hakim Bey

Although Steemit is a victim of turbulence, making his accession and consultation quite difficult, I will try to summarize this concept, hoping that this short text will come to you. The temporary autonomous zone, more commonly referred to as the Z. A. T. or T. A. Z. for its Anglo-Saxon counterpart, is the result of the spirit and written by Hakim Bey, a famous anarchist thinker of the 20th century. It is a list of ideas that allow everyone to form an autonomous and free group, in a temporary way.

The vision behind this principle is not to create no-rights zones, as one could think of it as soon as one tackles the subject of anarchism, but to design a network that would allow the development of a libertarian movement, in the basement of our society, and thus free oneself from restrictive rules and codes dictated by a handful of people. Hakim Bey does not encourage this utopia to avoid a popular impulse, but rather poetically illustrates his words, while relying in particular on what has been achieved in the past with the phenomenon of piracy, thus promoting a nomadic lifestyle. Reinventing the wheel by this occasion and naturally repeating the adage of: To live happily, let's live in hiding!"

Although short (less than a hundred pages), abstract and whimsical, this book has inspired many movements and counter-cultures:

• The Free-party subculture applies this principle with ideology since it spreads its network of nomadic tribes. Most of them are artists, sound systems, perfomers or travelers who live in opposition to government rules in order to create an underground society that defies authority and claims its right to a free party.

• Aborted initiatives such as Occupy Wall Street and Night Stand Up, have applied some of the basics of the Z. A. T. by unifying a mini-society on the fringes of traditional governance. The oppression and intimidation of the forces in place have unfortunately been successful. Because of the principle of immobility of the interested parties..

• The hidden web (Dark Web), forums and private networks, or p2p technologies (with Steem we are in the middle of it) can resemble Z. A. T., in the sense that the rules are established by the community momentum without being obstructed by anyone, while developing discreetly.

For psychoactive substance addicts, did you know that the extazy or molecule component of this product, MDMA, has been renamed T. A. Z. in homage to this work that has made many emulations. More than just a thought, the temporary autonomous zone is a lifestyle for a whole invisible fringe of a population that recognises itself around Bey's words.
