Artxanda Amusement Park

The number of visitors estimated was always well below the expectations of the promoters. The estimated figure was one and a half million visitors per year, but this forecast never materialized in more than 500,000 visitors.
The main handicap was that the complex was too far from the urban part of Bilbao and its location in the middle of the mountain was not very attractive. The sinuous roads, the bad state of the road and the narrowness of the same caused important retentions. The same day of the inauguration there were jams of more than one hour so much to go as to return. The recommendation to use the bus diminished the number of visitors, because the inconvenience of relying on schedules joined the high prices. Adverse climatology (fog, rain and wind) also did not help, as well as the high price of the tickets.



It was agreed to dissolve the company and close the enclosure.
