When I took a trip to Amsterdam with @brennanwalsh we stopped at De Blauwe Hollander for a traditional Dutch meal on our way to The Rijksmuseum. For an entree, I ordered Stamppot which is a mix of mashed potatoes and vegetables topped with a giant meatball. It was delicious. Perhaps I will post about the Stamppot another time...
For dessert, I ordered the yogurt and custard topped with red berry sauce. It was a creamy and delicious dessert that was not overwhelmingly sweet or rich. A great end to a delicious Dutch meal. As you can see in the photo, it looked delightful... and I assure you, it tasted even better than it looked!

@exyle mentioned this dish of mashed potaotes, greens & a big meatball. I think he called it bolders & mash. I wonder if it is the same dish you mention! I googled it and a recipe came up which i tried....was it ever delicious! There was a secret ingredient, spices in the meat balls and vinegar on the potatoes & greens mixed together. But, this dessert lured me in! It looks so creamy and tasty! Glad you got to enjoy authentic Dutch cuisine!! What was your favourite part of this meal, the dessert shown or the main course?
I will make a short post right now about the Stamppot. I think the main course was the best part but that’s because I am more of a meat than a sweet kinda guy. But overall it was the best meal I had while I was in the Netherlands! Cheers and thanks for stopping by
