The Sons of Liberty Flag: How The Rebellious Stripes Flag Shaped American Patriotism

On this day in 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act of 1765. This was Britain’s attempt to directly tax the American colonists. Needless to say, it did not go over well.

The Act led to the formation of the Sons of Liberty, which included such famous names as Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Patrick Henry, and Paul Revere. The motto of the group was “No taxation without representation.” and they’re probably most famous for the Boston Tea Party.
