The Guardian Building of the United States in Detroit, Michigan is a landmark skyscraper. It is conveniently located within the Financial District at 500 Griswold Street in Downtown. The Guardian Building is an elegant official building of the Wayne Country of Michigan. It is also the headquarters of the same. The Guardian Building started building in the year 1928 and completed in the year 1929. It was initially named as the Union Trust Building. It is an excellent example of the elegant architecture of the art deco type. The beautiful architecture includes modern art designs. The top of the Guardian Building features a huge American Flag that compliments four smaller flags.

There have been some recent renovations done in The Guardian Building that are worthy of your appreciation. In the year 1998 on June 29th, this place was designated as a National Historic Landmark. Additionally, the Detroit Financial District is also on the list of the National Register of Historic Places. There is a tourists gift shop and a retail shop included in The Guardian Building. It generally takes people a time span of two hours to explore The Guardian Building overall. The most popular time to visit the same is 10 am to 11 am. There is no entrance cost to attend The Guardian Building. It can be explored for free.

The main skyscraper frame is a thirty-six storied structure topped with two asymmetric spires, one of which extends for the additional four stories. The height of the building's roof is 496 feet, the extent of the spire is 632 feet, and the topmost floor extends up to 489 feet. It is also popularly given a nickname of Cathedral of Finance owing to its resemblance to a cathedral. The building is excellently designed and decorated. The three-storied vaulted lobby of The Guardian Building is beautifully decorated using top-notch Rookwood and Pewabic tile. Pewabic Potters is filled in the exterior semi-circular domes. Mary Chase Perry Stratton has worked a great deal with the architectural design of the decorations of The Guardian Building. A Monel metal screen conveniently separates the lobby and the banking hall on the second floor of The Guardian Building. The center of this screen features a clock that has been exclusively by Tiffany. The Guardian Building is one of the rare combinations of both technology and architecture.
