Will Amazon Ever Shutdown the Amazon Associates Program ie Affiliate Program?

in #amazon5 years ago

Hey guys, so I got an interesting e-mail from a viewer the other day who was questioning why Amazon has an affiliate program? He said everyone knows about Amazon, they don't really need bloggers and vloggers on Youtube driving traffic for them, so why do they have an affiliate program and will they eventually cancel it?

That's what I wanted to talk about in today's video. First off it isn't uncommon for companies to launch an affiliate program to grow and then slowly over time make the terms worse and worse, it happens all the time. It's also not uncommon for a company to cancel an Affiliate Program, heck eBay recently bought Terapeak and cancelled that program, by the way they still owe me $1100 that I'll probably never be paid. So the idea a company would cancel their program isn't outside the realm of possibility.

That said Amazon's Affiliate payout is very very low at 4% and it's a win win for them. They have an army of people marketing them and they only have to pay them for converted sales so it's really a no lose situation for Amazon.

The purpose of the Amazon Associates program isn't to let people know Amazon exists, but because Amazon sells every product under the sun they can get bloggers, vloggers, influencers and social media users across all types of different niches promoting products to those audiences.

Long story short, I don't see the program going away anytime soon. What's your thoughts? Drop a comment below and tell us all about it.

I think they will keep it but they will continue to squeeze the margin to the extent that there will be little incentive to continue supporting the program if you are a user. Amazon don't need anyone and I believe they will continue to become more ruthless as they grow further.

Amazon is all about fucking people over, however this is one situation where they already pay shit 4% where Target for example pays 8% and many affiliate companies pay substantially more. This is a win win for Amazon if you dont bring sales htey pay you nothing, if you bring sales you make peanuts and they make good money.

Also what Amazon has going for it is many people when they think affiliate marketing think amazon associates. I'm personally not a big fan of the program, while Amazon is a trusted name and everyone has prime so its easyto make sales, unfortunatley unless you have mega traffic the 4% of purchase prices of $10 or $20 for a phone case don't really add up to much, butI feel like most new affiliates rush to amazon.

we'll see if the program sticks around, its been going strong for a while

This helps the sellers on Amazon get more buyers if someone promotes their products on their blog, video etc.
