Amazon Web Services launches Blockchain Templates

Amazon Web Services (AWS) now offers Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric blockchain templates that can be used by anyone to launch highly secure blockchains. The announcement regarding the release of these new templates was made through the company's website. Notably, the blockchain frameworks can be deployed with certified AWS CloudFormation templates, which allow users to dedicate their time to creating useful blockchain applications, instead of having to go through the lengthy and time-consuming process of setting up the blockchain network itself.

Both Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric come with the standard smart contract templates, in addition to access control features and distributed consensus algorithms. Amazon Web Services templates provide the blockchain framework via containers through an EC2 instance or Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster.

Creating Your Own Blockchain Network

By using Amazon Web Services templates, the user is able to deploy their own blockchain platform through their Amazon VPC. This way, the user can continue to use their own VPC subnets and network Access Control Lists. Additionally, the user may set granular permissions through AWS IAM, in order to control or monitor the resources used by an Amazon ECS cluster or Amazon EC2 instance.

Not only is this a quick and easy way to launch your own blockchain platform, but it is also cost-effective. The user only needs to purchase the Amazon Web Services resources they want, and can then begin using the blockchain templates free of cost. The blockchain networks can be launched within public AWS regions.

Strategic Partnerships

Amazon Web Services has established strategic partnerships with a number of blockchain companies and financial services firms. This will help AWS launch more innovative products in the future and engage in more research and development of cutting-edge technology. Amazon, like many other giant companies, has been working on leveraging blockchain technology for a number of years.

Back in 2016, Amazon Web Services began collaborating with the Digital Currency Group on a project that would enable organizations to test out DLT and explore its possible use cases. The interested reader may check out the AWS blog for more information.
