Three Foods That Combat Alzheimer’s
Three Foods That Combat Alzheimer’s By Martin Reilly
Let's talk about Alzheimer’s. More specifically, what foods can help you combat this condition before it starts.
The fact of the matter is that more people are suffering from Alzheimer’s today than ever before. Blame this on genetics, blame it on our inactive lifestyles, or blame it on our diets. Whatever you think is the main reason why people are suffering, one thing we do know is that the foods you put into your body on a day to day basis do count.
Make some smart changes to your diet plan and you may just side-step your risk. Too many people mistakenly believe that what they eat is only going to impact their body weight.
They believe that by eating the right foods on a daily basis, they can reach their goal weight but that’s about it.
Wrong!
Put the proper foods into your body and you will be amazed at what great results come out of that.
So let’s get started and go over three of the best foods that you can eat that will help you put a stop to Alzheimer’s diseases – or at the very least –put your best foot forward to preventing it from taking place. Studies are suggesting that following a good diet can actually decrease your risk by up to 53%. Don’t take this lightly!
Three of the best foods are:
1.Spinach
No matter how you slice it (or tear it as the case may be here!), spinach is the best of the leafy greens to be consuming. This nutrient powerhouse has loads of antioxidants, plenty of minerals, and vitamins that make it practically a multi-vitamin in itself.
Two of the most powerful nutrients in this leafy green are vitamin C and vitamin A, both of which are going to provide strong antioxidant benefits and help ward off oxidative damage.
Can’t stand spinach? If you simply can’t do this green, kale, broccoli, collards, or other greens will still definitely benefit you, so you can opt for those as well.
2.Nuts
The one food that many people love to snack on but may avoid as they’ve heard they’re just too high in calories are nuts. It’s time to add them back into your diet plan. As long as you eat these in moderation, they are definitely fine to include in your menu.
Walnuts, pecans, almonds, or cashews are all terrific options and can help to lower your levels of bad cholesterol and reduce your risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. Keeping blood pressure levels in check is also critical for optimal brain health, so this again will go a long way towards warding off Alzheimer’s.
3.Blueberries
Finally, do not miss out on your chance to protect your brain with blueberries. Blueberries are fantastic as they contain key antioxidants that help improve memory, increase cognition and may also ward off Alzheimer’s disease.
Blueberries are also very low in calories, so they are relatively easy to add to any diet plan. Eat them twice per week for optimal benefits.
So have a good look at your current diet. Are these three foods in place? If not, you may want to pick some up next time you go to the grocery shop so you aren’t missing out on the great benefits they provide.
