A Look at MMTM Tokens

I regularly check CoinMarketCap to see track how many cryptocurrencies it’s tracking. This week, it’s crossed the tracking of 1,600 cryptocurrencies. That’s a lot of coins and tokens meeting the minimum volume requirement set by CMC.

This massive figure shows one thing: there’s a lot of tokens out there, and it’s important to pin down investment focus on tokens that are truly vital to the platform. In this piece, I am going to analyze MMTM tokens; the native currency of Momentum.

First Off, What is Momentum?

Momentum is a new blockchain product that allows companies to offer loyalty program rewards via a cryptocurrency—MMTM tokens. While it may seem the product here is simply the tokens, there’s a lot more to Momentum.

The core service provides the facilitation of developing a loyalty program for any business. Also, Momentum is pushing the definition of loyalty within loyalty programs as it allows companies to reward customers for more than just buying products. After all, a loyal customer is more than just a frequent buyer. Momentum is allowing companies to easily develop, from scratch, a program that combines the basic factors of loyalty programs while giving companies a convenient and reliable way to reward loyal customers who promote their brand or provide valuable feedback.

MMTM’s Role

MMTM tokens are the only currency on the Momentum platform. So, any company that aims to utilize Momentum’s service would need to buy MMTM tokens. Since every loyalty program must eventually reward its users, MMTM tokens are essential to the proper functioning of Momentum.

One interesting thing about this token is that its demand will be primarily driven by businesses. While consumers will drive transactional flow and thereby driving up volume, the businesses might actually play an important role in driving up MMTM’s price. Businesses hold reserves of foreign capital as it uses up paid resources to continually buy foreign capital. Until the whole world adopts crypto, businesses will likely treat any crypto as foreign capital; therefore, businesses utilizing Momentum will be keeping a reserve of MMTM tokens. This plays an extremely important role in the economics of this token.

As businesses pull out tokens from circulation to hold as reserve, a large portion of MMTM tokens would be an unclaimable supply. It will be unclaimable since as a business’s reserve will dwindle for payments to loyal customers, they’d replenish the pool. A large portion of the tokens will remain dedicated to reserves. Consequently, the amount that will remain in constant flow might end up being quite small; a low circulating supply naturally results in a higher token price.

Momentum is More Than Just MMTM

Since a lot of weak projects launch with the mere offer of a crypto, I want to point out that while Momentum is providing a means for companies to reward customers in cryptocurrency, this offering is not its main product. The main product is Momentum—the platform.

Momentum will allow companies to develop loyalty programs and to integrate existing ones with reward payments in cryptocurrency; it’s simply choosing to make that cryptocurrency a native one and that makes that native currency, MMTM, an essential part of Momentum's overall offering.
