Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has been in existence since August 1, 2017 and originated from the original Bitcoin network. Like Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash serves to execute transactions - only these are more efficient than Bitcoin.

The cryptocurrency currently costs just under € 600 per BCH. With a supply of around 17 million coins and a market capitalization of approximately 10.2 billion euros, this coin occupies the top 4 of the largest cryptocurrencies.

Now we already know that Bitcoin Cash should work more efficiently than the original Bitcoin. But how exactly did BCH come into being and what are the advantages over Bitcoin?

The origin of BCH

As already mentioned, the currency was created on 1 August 2017 as part of a so-called "hard fork". Before, it is still important to know why the currency was created: BCH resulted from a poor performance Bitcoin. The block size was 1MB, allowing 3-7 transactions per second. However, as cryptocurrency and bitcoin became more popular, blocks were subject to more transactions to the same extent, eventually leading to a congestion within the blocks. The normal transaction duration is in some cases far exceeded and users complained about a partial 4-day waiting period.
For this problem, the above-mentioned "hard fork" has now been used. This is a method to update within the Bitcoin network. After this execution took place, additionally Bitcoin cash developed. As a result, every Bitcoin investor received exactly as many BCHs as he owned BTC.

The benefits of Bitcoin Cash

Now that the spin-off has taken place, a whole new network has emerged which works separately and independently of the original Bitcoin. The block size has increased from 1MB to 8MB and now allows up to 61 transactions compared to 3-7 transactions per second. Furthermore, transactions in the Bitcoin Cash network are 99% cheaper than the Bitcoin.

As we can see, this digital currency is a serious competitor to Bitcoin. Although Bitcoin Cash is more efficient, the currency is still not as well known and popular as the original.
