Unless there is a huge disruption on steem i think the people that are coming into the platform and the upside for this is higher then the risk factor. Investment means taking money that you are willing to loose if it does not pan out. If you are choosing which currency to invest in then choose steempower. if you are choosing to pay rent or invest pay rent. :)
