Invited to eat Tuma

Tuma is a word in Pemon for food or it also means "come eat". It's the expression used when a parent serves his daily meal and invites family members, neighbors, or anyone else who walks by can stand up and eat. It is a millennial custom of the Pemon who live in the southeast of Venezuela, west of Guyana and north of Brazil. Every morning or at noon you can hear someone's voice shouting TUMA.

In the city it's totally different. The mother usually cooks just enough for the family members. No provision is made for inviting anyone. Now in economic crisis in Venezuela it is a supreme task to invite someone to eat at home. Hardly anyone wants to visit someone at home at lunchtime.

However, in the last few days, a friend from Colombia visited us to give some important lectures for our personal growth and we invited him to a Tuma.

The ingredients for a tuma are basically: protein, vegetables, salt and water. All this is cooked together. As we were in the city, we decorated the table with natural elements such as palm woven fabrics and other elements. And of course, the clay pots. Below I share with you the images of that moment of enjoyment of the Tuma.

Congratulations @rdelgadop, my best wishes!

Siempre viene bien aprender palabras nuevas. Tengo una pregunta, ¿Qué es Pemón? por el contexto del artículo creo que se trata de un dialecto, pero no estoy totalmente segura.
