Delhi police arrests Major accused in murder of Army officer's wife

The Delhi police have arrested accused Major Nikhil Handa in the murder case of Army Major's wife Shailja, who was found dead on Saturday, with her throat slit.

Souces have said that Delhi police team have reportedly dispached a silver Honda City car from Meerut.

According to the police, Shailaja was seen with an unidentified man in a private car. Cops have also found some evidence in Shailaja's phone, which point out to some kind of estrangement between her and the murderer.

Indian Army Major's wife was found dead on Saturday with her throat slit and body run over by the killer's vehicle on Brar Square, close to Delhi Cantonment metro station.

The deceased had left home in the morning for a physiotherapy session at the Army's base hospital in Delhi Cantonment. An official vehicle assigned to the Army Major dropped her to the hospital. However, when the vehicle went to pick her up, the driver was told that major's wife didn't come for physiotherapy.

At around 1:30 in the noon, her dead body was found near Delhi Cantonment metro station.

Passersby informed the police about an unidentified woman's body lying on the road. After the police reached the crime scene, they found that the 30-year-old woman's throat was slit by a sharp-edged weapon.

The Army Major is posted in Dimapur, Nagaland. The two tied the knot in 2009 and have a son together.
