The year is drawing to a close with extended moves in many major currencies. USD/JPY is trading at the top of its 9-month range and the EUR/USD is about 200 pips from its year to date high, which is a dramatic appreciation from where it started the year, at 1.05. This past week has been marked by quiet strength in the euro, U.S. dollar and commodity currencies. It is not common to see simultaneous gains in the majors as the dollar usually drives FX flows, but this week was all about risk appetite stemming from Congressional approval of the tax-reform bill, which sparked gains for currencies, Treasuries and equities

USD/JPY 일간차트 2017/01/01 - 2017/12/24

President Trump signed the tax bill into law on Friday and the Senate passed a temporary spending bill to keep the government running through January. Outside of last-minute year-end flows, there’s not much to drive FX moves next week. The U.S. calendar includes the Conference Board’s consumer confidence index, pending home sales, the trade balance and Chicago PMI. Not much is expected from these second-tier releases though they should be stronger, which would keep the dollar bid along side repatriation flows

트럼프 대통령은 금요일 세금 법안에 서명하고 상원은 1월 19일까지 정부 운영을 유지시킬 단기예산안을 통과시켰다 연말 유동성 외에는, 다음 주에 FX 움직임을 견인할 만한 것이 없다 미국 경제 달력은 소비자 신뢰지수, 주택 판매, 무역 수지와 시카고 생산 관리자 지수가 포함된다 이 수치들이 강세더라도 이들 2단계 중요도 발표로 인해서 많은 것이 기대되진 않는다 본국 송환 유동성에 따라 달러 매수세가 유지될 것이다

ㅣ현재 미국 기업은 해외 수익의 국내 송환 시 발생하는 세금을 피하기 위해 해외에 2.6조 달러에 달하는 해외 유보금을 보유하고 있는데, 미 의회의 법인세율 및 송환 세율 등의 인하로 달러화가 강세를 보일 것이라는 우려가 높아짐, 그러나 과거 사례상 미국과 글로벌 경기가 모두 회복되는 시기에는 달러화가 약세를 보였던 경험으로 달러화 약세 압력을 높일 것으로 예상됨 - NH투자증권

EUR/USD 일간차트 2017/01/01 - 2017/12/24

Fed Presidents Bullard, Harker and Mester are scheduled to speak and they are not expected to deviate from the central bank’s positive outlook and view that gradual tightening is needed. The latest U.S. economic reports were mixed with personal spending and new home sales rising more than expected but personal income, durable goods orders and the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment index fell short of expectations

연방준비제도 의장 Bullard, Harker 그리고 Mester가 연설 계획이 있지만 그들이 점진적 긴축이 필요하다는 중앙은행의 긍정적인 전망과 다를 것으로 예상되지 않는다 최근의 미국 경제 보고서는 개인 지출과 신규 주택 판매가 예상보다 상승했지만 개인 소비, 내구재 상품 주문과 소비자심리 지수는 기대에 못 미치고 하락하며 혼재를 보였다

No Eurozone economic reports were released on Friday and after 4 out of 5 days of gains, EUR/USD could pull back in the coming week even though the long-term outlook is positive. The latest economic reports were mixed with German producer price growth slowing and the expectations component of the IFO report slipping. Trade and current account activity in the Eurozone also slowed in October

금요일에 유로존 경제 보고서 발표는 없었고 5일 중 4일의 상승장 후에, EUR/USD는 비록 장기적 전망이 긍정적이라도 다음 주에는 하락할 수 있다 최근의 보고서들은 독일 생산자 물가 성장이 둔화되고 독일 IFO 기업환경 지수가 하락했다 유로존의 무역수지와 경상수지(current account) 활동 또한 10월에 둔화됐다

The German economy is performing well but the prospect of softer German CPI next week could prevent further gains in the currency. There’s also plenty of resistance above current levels at 1.19, the November high of 1.1960 and of course 1.20. Angela Merkel is still working on forming a coalition government and it is not clear how much longer it will take but the drawn-out process has created an environment of complacency for EUR/USD traders

독일 경제는 호조를 보이고 있지만 다음 주 독일 CPI(소비자물가지수) 약세 전망은 더 이상의 통화 가치 상승을 막을 수 있다 1.19의 현재 수준 위에, 1.1960와 1.20의 11월 고점에 많은 저항선이 또한 있다 앙겔라 메르켈 독일 총리는 여전히 연립정부를 구성 중이고 얼마나 더 걸릴지 알 수 없다 그러나 끌고 온 과정은 EUR/USD 투자자들에게 만족스러운 분위기를 만들었다
