It breaks the curses
Exodus 20:5;
5 do not you laning in front of them or worship them. I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. When parents are evil and hate me, I punish their children unto the third and fourth generation.
Exodus 34:7;
7 which maintains his love up to one thousand generations later, and which forgives wickedness, rebellion and Sin; but that does not leave the guilty unpunished, but punishes the iniquity of the fathers on the children and grandchildren, to the third and the fourth generation.
Numbers 14:18;
18 that you are slow to anger and great in love, and that even if you forgive the wickedness and rebellion, never leave unpunished criminals, but you punish the iniquity of the fathers on their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grandchildren.
Deuteronomy 5:9
9 do not you leaning in front of them or worship them. I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. When parents are evil and hate me, I punish their children unto the third and fourth generation.
It seems unfair for God to punish children for the sins of their parents. However, this is looking at it from an earthly perspective. God knows that the effects of Sin are transmitted from one generation to the next. When a parent has a sinful lifestyle, their children are likely to have the same sinful lifestyle also. Therefore, it is not unjust for God to punish without to the third or fourth generation - because they commit the same sins their ancestors did. But they are punished for their own sins, not the sins of their ancestors. The Bible specifically tells us that Dios not responsible to children for the sins of their fathers
Deuteronomio 24:16
16 will not be death to parents because of their children, nor will be death to the children because of their parents. Every one shall die for his own sin.
AS BREAK OR CANCEL A CURSE
2nd Chronicles
30:7 do not be as your fathers and your brothers, who rebelled against the Lord God of their fathers, and he gave them up to desolation, as ye see.
30:8 do not harden, so now your cervix as your fathers; Submit yourselves unto the Lord, and come to his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever; and serve the Lord your God, and the fierce anger will turn away from you.
To break the curse of a life, you need someone who knows and know about spiritual matters. Not anyone can break a curse, is must seek help from someone understood and with spiritual authority to deal with the demons, so that advice on what and how to do it. Also the person must prepare and be strengthened spiritually to the battle for his release and his family
In a nutshell: break or cancel a curse has to do with out the demons and shut the door behind, so that not to enter.
Do not return to Sin so that does not happen something worse.
Forgive those who did us harm and ask forgiveness for them. This is more difficult but not impossible, to do it.
Cry out for the release of related persons.
Likely spiritual warfare, battles with various demons who do not want to release the family.
Should be strengthened in the power of the Holy Spirit, filled with their presence and let it flow.
Follow faithfully to God, without deviating to the left or right hand.
There is no curse that cannot be cut or break, who then gives the last word is God and there is nothing greater or stronger than the power and the sovereignty of God. Any person (whatever your spirituality and faith), it can and it must rely on the power of God to be free. How much closer we are to God, further will be curses (i.e. demons) of our life.
Indicated more is to seek the help of spiritual authorities (Apostles, evangelists, prophets, pastors, teachers) for counselling and ministration, and count on the body of Christian warriors intercessory prayer. God, with his infinite love and power, can make a person free of curses in an instant, with an only miracle, but that depends on each case and of your divine will. It is also very possible that someone receives revelation directly from the Holy Spirit, also must rely on the spiritual support of the Church to resolve the case. There are battles of great magnitude, no one will be lonely super-hero-Christian, we all need support and backing of the prayer of our brothers.
STEPS FOR RELEASE OF CURSE
James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Every effect has a cause and we know that all curse has a cause. The first thing that must be done is to identify and define the problem, this is accomplished by examining in detail the effects and consequences, all that is seen and all palpable but with spiritual insight very keen, well awake not to fall into the deception of the demons.
The entire process of counselling and ministration of the person wanting to be free of curses should be supported all the time of communion and the revelation of the Holy Spirit, this means that a spiritual work can never be based on carnality or in the physical world, or psychology, or studies only, the Holy Spirit is who will do the work and will give indications, we the Ministers are only partners, intermediaries and interpreters. Ministers must put all their knowledge and spiritual preparation services of the Holy Spirit, to make it work as expected. Also each person wishing to achieve this freedom and victory in God, must also collaborate with its instructions and be faithful to the commandment. To God be the glory. Amen.
Genesis 17:7
And I will establish my Covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you in their generations, by agreement perpetuo, to be your God, and your offspring after you.

Most Evangelical Christians don't believe that there are generation curses in the church age.

As New Testament believers, we know that there is only one criterion God uses to judge the world and determine who is saved and not saved: faith in Jesus Christ. "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (I John 5:12). "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:17, 18).
The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah anticipated this New Testament perspective. Writing about 600 years before the birth of Christ, he declared in no uncertain terms that God does not "hold you responsible for something that someone else did." Ultimately, says Jeremiah, you are answerable for your own actions: "In those days they shall say no more: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge" (Jeremiah 31:29, 30; see also Ezekiel 18:2, 3).
Every individual, then, is responsible for his or her own choices. And in the end, the only choice that really counts is the one you make in response to this question: "What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" (Matthew 27:22). If you end up spending eternity separated from God in "outer darkness" (see Matthew 8:12, 13:42), it won't be because of the "skeletons" in your family closet. It will be the direct result of your own failure to embrace the gift of God's forgiveness and grace made available in the Person of Jesus Christ (John 1:17, 3:16). On the other hand, if you dwell forever in the presence of angels and in fellowship with the Heavenly Father, it won't be because you somehow managed, by means of your own wisdom and virtue, to avoid the mistakes made by previous generations. It will be because you accepted God's merciful offer of unmerited deliverance and salvation. No one – not your parents, your grandparents, your aunts, uncles, spouse, children, grandchildren, or friends – can make that decision for you. You alone are capable of making it.
