Steemhomework - A normal day in my classroom "Personal Story"

Hello friends of steemiteducation, in this blog I will write about the experiences that occur in the day to day in a classroom.

Particularly, I specialize in working with teenagers, maybe many will think, that working with young people is easier than working with infants, well I will tell them, it is not like that: children can be shaped according to our behavior towards them, that is, If the educator transmits security, confidence and motivational reinforcements, the children tend to do their own work with more effort. On the other hand, in adolescents, so you motivate them, talk, show them security and trust, they, for the transition stage that they are going through, tend to undermine all your collaborative efforts on their part.

Teenagers, as a rule: impatient, disorderly, everything bothers them, their classmates do not like them, in short they are people who get bored easily, hence the teacher must and have to use more tools to perform in the classroom and achieve the concentration of their boys.

Any teacher or teacher, unaccustomed to these behaviors, chooses to only teach the class as quickly as possible, sends them activities to do at home, all with the purpose of quickly leaving that group and not putting their grain of sand in shaping those characters.

Recently it happened to me with a group, that despite all my experience in teaching, I could not get involved with them. They were disordered, academically careless, retarded in their class time, they were what many call; a "problem" class. He really was ready to leave them and leave them on his own, like all the other teachers who taught him.

One day, when class time arrived with them, I said to myself: today is the day, today I will succeed, today my boys will leave my classroom more motivated and committed to their studies.

  • Devise positive reinforcement: After welcoming them, I was naming them one by one, and as I named them, I told them what I expected them to be in the future. The one who wanted to be a doctor, said to him, "Can you imagine that I was your first patient? How proud I would feel to have contributed to form an excellent doctor. And so with each of them until you finish naming them all. After that entrance, (which awards with a candy) in which I realized that many felt underestimated by the comparison they made with other kids. That many teachers criticized them for their apathy, that they were not allowed to enter the classroom if they took 10 minutes. They only reacted to what they thought others expected, that is, everyone expected their disorder, because they gave it to them. There I realized that my boys, that my boys were excellent, just needed me to talk to them.

After that approach with them, before we start the class, we hold hands and say at the same time our best action of the day .. the class has not improved 100%, but we are taking long steps, where before we only stumbled.

I know your pain. I am a special pedagogue but my main profession is changing bad behaviors. So I am the person who works with upbringing with young people but with the offenders as well. Everybody who needs repeat socialization, who is demoralized. I have to admit that the worst job is with teenagers.

It is difficult to work with teenagers, but I do not consider it "the worst job" is rather a constant challenge, where we must be above all expectations that they have of us. It is very gratifying that a teenager tells us, .professor thank you for helping me or listening to me ... that's priceless. I appreciate your comment and vote. I invite you to continue supporting me.

I think we speak with two different groups of terneager. I guess you are working with “normal” teenagers. I was speaking about children with distinctions. They would not tell you “thank you professor” they would raider tell you “fuck off and leave me alone”. Like I said before I am changing behaviour of demoralizated people.

Oh, okay. Yes, I'm with teenagers without behavior problems. You're right, the least problematic teenagers insult you. we have that same task. thank you for your comments. I would like to continue communicating with you. Hugs.
