Microsoft introduced a plan for a new, modern headquarters

Microsoft intends to rebuild its 500-acre campus in Redmond, Washington. The company will begin a multi-year project next fall to create 18 new buildings, along with new public spaces, transportation infrastructure and sports grounds. Currently, Microsoft has 125 buildings on its campus, and as soon as the project is completed, their number will increase to 131 buildings.

The updated campus will accommodate an additional 8,000 people in addition to the 47,000 Microsoft employees who currently work at the company's headquarters in Redmond. Rebuilding the campus will require the demolition of 12 old buildings, in order to erect 18 new buildings in their place. It is also reported that the campus will have an open area of 2 acres, accommodating up to 2 thousand people. The reconstruction will take from 5 to 7 years and billions of investments.

Microsoft's plans for the conversion of the campus appeared shortly after Apple opened its new Apple Park campus earlier this year, Amazon intends to open a second headquarters.
