The Boz does the Okie Doak on Broncos Fans and Tells All.steemCreated with Sketch.

Brian Bosworth was not a very good NFL linebacker. But there’s no denying he’s one of the greatest showmen the league has ever seen. That’s why we still talk about a guy who played only three seasons and also how he ended up starring in several movies.

The dude was pretty smart, too. And one anecdote from Jonathan Rand’s The Wildest Stories And Craziest Characters The NFL Has Ever Seen proves that. So on this Throwback Thursday, let’s remember the time Bosworth tricked 10,000 Broncos fans into raising a bunch of money for charity…

Let’s travel back to 1987. We’re just days away from Bosworth making his pro debut with the Seattle Seahawks against the Denver Broncos. Ever the showman, Bosworth decided to call out Broncos star John Elway.

“I can’t wait to get my hands on Elway’s boyish face,” Bosworth told the media.

“He added that he’d rather get penalized for a late hit than let Elway run out of bounds unscathed,” wrote Rand.

This made Broncos fans furious. So furious, about 10,000 fans wore shirts that read “What’s a Boz worth? Nothing” on the front and “Ban the Boz” on the back to the game.

Here’s the thing: Bosworth’s company produced the shirts:

“But if they had looked inside the shirt at the little tag that said Boz 44, Inc., they would have realized they paid fifteen dollars for a shirt made by my company,” Bosworth wrote. “We gave all the profits to the Children’s Hospital. We just wanted to prove how oxygen-deprived Denver fans are.”

Well done, Boz.

@broncnutz - Wow - That story just cracks me up 😎. The Boz was a keen business brain too along with being a showman, it looks like. He turned his arrogance in to money!! Some CEOs of large corporations can learn from that!

I have reverted back to my beloved wildlife animal blogs and have posted one about Lions in the making - A cub's story. I request you to take a look if you have time and liking for wildlife. Your comments would be eagerly awaited. Thanks.

Too bad he sucked in the NFL because at least he would have been entertaining for a few years to watch. The Boz has always been able to market himself that's for sure.

True that! I liked the way he made his presence felt but it did not register in NFL for some reason

I always like your sports related postings.

This guy is very smart :)

What I like about football is that the union of strength and strategy

I'm not American but after learning the rules I aways watch.

Thank you for sharing this information.

If you can share more information about Football :)
