Manchester City will try to sign Sánchez again in January

Manchester City are planning another attempt to sign Alexis Sánchez in the January transfer window, according to reports in England.

Goal say Sánchez was left furious after his deadline day move to the Etihad Stadium collapsed due to Arsenal’s inability to sign a replacement and the Chilean forward no longer wants to play for the Gunners.

Sánchez is said to have informed Arsène Wenger of his desire to leave following Sunday’s 4-0 defeat away at Liverpool and a £60 million fee was finally agreed with City just hours before the transfer deadline.
However, Arsenal failed in their £92 million bid to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar and Sánchez was told he’d have to stay put.

Both clubs have blamed each other for the fiasco but Sánchez and his agent, Fernando Felicevich, firmly believe Arsenal are the guilty party. Felicevich is reported to have told representatives from the two clubs during a late night conference call on Thursday that he would “not forget” the London club’s role in the move breaking down.

And now City are set to renew their efforts to bring the 28-year-old to the club when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January.

Sánchez is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to discuss a Bosman move with foreign clubs from January onwards. However, City are confident the forward still wants to join them and are hoping Arsenal will accept an offer of around £30 million for him at the turn of the year rather than lose him for nothing next summer.
