What is an Amazon Alexa 'Skill'

Amazon Alexa is Amazon’s voice controlled AI assistant. Alexa runs on the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, and a new addition – the Echo Look. Once you have your Alexa powered device, you will want to discover its best uses. The built-in uses are great, but much like with smartphones, many of the best experiences will eventually come from third party developers. A Skill is to Alexa Echo what an app is to iOS (or other smartphone operating systems). An Alexa Skill is third party developed software that allows for more personalized experiences. To install a Skill onto your Alexa powered device, visit the Skills section within the Alexa app (comparable to the App Store).
