Fuck yeah Japan, you did it again! BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal ( truemetal butthurtness intensifies ) formed by Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) singing, dancing and leading the rest of the Kami Band which is formed by Takayoshi Ohmura, Isao Fujita and Leda Cygnus at the guitars, Boh at the bass and Hideki Aoyama beating the drums, released their debut album of the same name BABYMETAL in February of 2014, an album as weird as versatile, with blends of everything made with the main purpose of making everyone have a great time, no for real this album is amazingly good, it may be a concept album like the rest, but I think you're ready for a concept band as a whole.

Yeah, official videos baby! We kick off with the second track (no, the first one wasn't an intro, real funny guys), MEGITSUNE is one of their most successful songs, full of references of Japanese pop culture and even Japanese folklore taking the main bridge from the traditional song "Sakura, Sakura", this is an amazing blend of j-pop with djent and some other more traditional styles, and c'mon look how cute they are with their cute choreography, this is genius!

CHOCOLATE is the 3rd track on the album and the song that launched BABYMETAL to the stardom in the west, catchy AS FUCK this song is one of the silliest and most enjoyable of the whole album, the song charges at you with the force of a thrash metal song mixing some progressive and djent elements, this set the stage for a song talking about chocolate and homework... what else did you expect? Just look at this, C'mon! Of course is a song about chocolate and homework!

This time I'll bring you the full BABYMETAL experience with a live video of the song CATCH ME IF YOU CAN the 10th track on the album, in this clip you'll find out that the band are not just the 3 kawaii girls at the front but the musicians are top notch as well, starting with a display of skills in each instrument set the stage for what is easily my favorite song of the album, hard riffs, gut-blasting gutturals at the side, and a fucking cute choreography are the main stars in a song about PLAYING MOTHERFUCKING HIDE-AND-SEEK HAHAHAHAHAHAHA this is genius, is insane, I love it! Everything about it! And if you don't like that, well...

Not only this album, this whole band and its concept took the metal scene by storm, the blend of not just metal sub-genres in their songs but genres like reggae, drum & bass, electronica, hip-hop and of course idol music and j-pop is what makes this band great, they're not afraid to try new things and innovate and no one could predict that 3 Japanese girls would take a genre dominated by big bad hairy men that want to break the rules and took those same rules and broke them again, with cuteness and chocolate, the work of geniuses!
