Even given that it's really hard to come up with anything that's actually new new these days, and it's a lot more about how well you execute ideas rather than how new they are, formulas can get pretty tiring can't they XD
As nice as it is to create a masterpiece, I think it's enough if you at least enjoyed it which it sounds like you did :)
I have to add I'm kind of terrified of creating a masterpiece because then you have to top that XD

Agreed, it's about how you tell the story; the most generic prompts can be pretty interesting if you play your cards right. I just pointed out the 'it's not masterpiece' a lot, cuz young otakus are a handful and they throw tantrums if you're not specific; you know, the clasic 'i saw naruto and one piece, i'm a qualiy expert' :v
And yes, creating a masterpiece is scary. How do you top that? Most people never do. Take J. K. Rowling as an example of living off your only hit bc you cant come up with anything better.
Oh I know the type XD
Living off your one hit is not a bad place to be in the grand scheme. It's probably doing her head in creatively though XD
Living off your one hit is not bad, but she tries so hard (when there's no need for it) to the point her work is now below in quality to a bad fanfiction, is quite sad.
