How to engage in safe online dating
With the kind of popularity internet dating has acquired in the 21st century am quite sure even the devil cannot be possibly single. He probably has loads of girlfriends on twitter, Facebook, badoo etc And for the gay guys, if the devil is gay you might be on his to do list. That is just for laughs, don't take it seriously.
Most of us do a lot of fishing on the internet these days. Fishing as a slang means seeking out potential dates on the Internet by sending requests to members of the opposite sex, sliding into their DMs etc. This is kinda like what online dating is i suppose. The first question to answer is what is online dating? Online dating is a deliberate intention to start a romantic relationship on the internet by giving out information about yourself or responding to someone's information. It can also be seen as a process of looking for a romantic or sexual partner on the internet through a dedicated website.
The proliferation of the internet, has paved way for the emergence of several online dating sites who in turn have millions of subscribers. Notorious among this sites includes Badoo, OK cupid Dating, Tinder and of course Facebook even if that wasn't the original intension of Mark Zuckerberg, today thousands of dating and hook up pages exists on Facebook. All you need to do is sign up on any of these sites, upload some attractive pictures and state your preferences. Not long someone will come calling. Of course if no one comes calling you can also do the calling by fishing for whoever tickles your fancy.
Well, let us take a look at the good side of online dating
No one actually has to be single or lonely especially if you can get yourself online. There are tens of millions of potential dates to fish from.
Online dating is good for the extremely shy dudes who are too timid to approach a cute girl without stuttering like a broken record.
Online dating is a melting pot for people of divers culture to meet interact and even initiate a romantic relationship which could lead to marriage.
As the saying goes, there are always two sides to a coin, in spite of the positive sides of online dating a lot of negativity also exists. * A friend of mine recently met a lady on a Facebook dating page. Within a week they have become so close you would think they have been married for years. They chat all day, they make video calls and exchange pictures. My friend believed she had all the qualities he wanted in a woman - she was so pretty, has an average height, fair in complexion to mention a few. She was already I'm love with my friend within this short period. So what next? A date was initiated and unfortunately for my friend he was blown off! What he ordered for online is quite different from what was delivered. The lady was actually very short, darker than she appeared in her pictures, not really pretty and a bit fat. If all of these is manageable, the most terrifying thing is that she is more temperamental than an angry bull.* My friend was really disappointed, he had to end the relationship mush to the anger of his online sweetheart. For me I think this is by far the biggest problem of online dating. It is difficult to effectively evaluate a person in terms of their physical qualities and their behavioural tendencies. This is more so because a lot of people are not sincere online.
My friend's experience is by no means an attempt to denigrate online dating. There are several stories of people that met online and actually got married. We should put the following into consideration when embarking on online dating.
- We should be cautious with people we meet online especially for our own emotional and physical safety. The first date is very important and it is best done in an open or secure location this is strictly for security reasons. There are thousands of stories of ladies raped on a first date, you dont want to be part of such statistics.
- Don't profess love until you have physically examined what you are buying online, this can safe you a lot of emotional drama and stress.
- Do some background check on people you meet online, you can do this by verifying things they say from the things you find on their social media accounts and if things don't add up its better to back off before your back is against the wall.
For those that are into online dating already and to those flirting with the idea, goodluck to you guys! Make sure you are cautious and stay safe.
Very interesting and highly educative.
