Airdrop is a term used for distribution of crypto-coins for free. These crypto-coins (also called tokens) are usually distributed through new projects still under development, also called ICO's (Initial Cryptomoda Offer), as a form of marketing to attract new users. It is worth pointing out that these Airdrops are 100% free and you do not have to invest or deposit any amount in cash or in crypto coins to get them!

Why do companies distribute these tokens?

Marketing! For a cryptomaned to be useful and worth something in the future, it must be used by people and this is the most difficult to achieve. The provision of free tokens at the beginning of a given crypto-currency may attract new investors and users to the network. This is an easy way to build an initial community. It ends up being an exchange of favors, you get crypto-coins as companies advertise your product.

Do these tokens have any value?

Yes! You may think that just because you are getting these tokens for free they are not worth it.
