trane heat pump
I have a Train heat pump XR13.
Two years ago the fan motor went bad,It also is the brain of the air handler. I replaced the fan/brain motor at a cost of $1000 and I installed it myself.
Now it went bad again and this time I called a company. The technician stated that these are a problem with this unit.
To make a long story short ,If you have this problem the a/c technician can do something called DUMB IT DOWN. To make it a normal fan motor with a circuit board and a compositor. This costs less and should last much longer.
I do not know if other a/c brands can do this but ask.
