More important than the air we breathe?

U.S. air quality improved dramatically following historic environmental regulations in the 1970s, but scientists and public health officials are fearing a turn for the worse. Trump administration’s urgency to destroy the regulations that improved air quality and worked to counter climate change are a threat to public health.

EPA director Pruitt has been active in attacking the Clean Power Plan, vehicle emission standards, limits on gas/oil drilling, waivers on smog, cutting staff, and promoting coal. The morale of the EPA has been decimated and many have left since last year as EPA's mission has absurdly turned anti-environmental.

With all the improvements since the 1970s the U.S. has seen dramatic reductions in smog and ground-level ozone, and 6 of the most common air toxins have dropped by over 50% despite the expansion of cities and population. But with the idiotic turn of priorities and attacks on clean air; asthma, heart disease, and other lung complications from pollution will certainly increase. We are on the verge in the U.S. of taking for granted the very air we breathe.
