My view for a better Nigeria

Nigeria has been on a fluctuating position in the world's economy even when we have all it takes to really be the giant of Africa like we use to be. But as time goes by, what is true is revealed, and what is fake fades away. The real truth is that we are still the giant of Africa but we are no longer as great as we used to be.Due do lots of lagging in different sectors and worse of all THE CORRUPTION .

Firstly Agriculture have been on a decline since petroleum was discovered in Nigeria in 1956 at Oloibiri in the Nigerdelta. The leaders at that time began to focus on petroleum leaving agriculture. In the past Nigeria was famous for exporting groundnut and palm kernel oil.Why don't we bring that back lots of Nigerians are malnourished and faces poverty and it waters my eyes. Since 2011 Nigeria has importedmore than 17 million tonnes of rice. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the country imported 2.3 million tonnes in 2016, about half of the country's estimated requirements.Nigeria that had agriculture as its major source of income now importing food is very disgraceful. But then to counter this problem I am going to start to empower farmer and youth Into the skill acquisition.I will also provide mortgage and loan for farmer with Lower interest so that they can have tools to work.We need agriculture to boost our economy back up and I am not saying we should leave petroleum exportation because we can assimilate both since even our petroleum sector is nothing to write home about. Generally for all aspect of vocational skills I will Embark on vocational training, entrepreneurial and skills acquisition scheme for graduates along with the creation of Small Business Loan Guarantee Scheme to create at least 1 million new jobs every year, for the foreseeable future.

With the skill acquisition training this will help alleviate poverty and help lots of university graduate and non graduates who are unemployed to find a means of providing

a means of providing for themselves.

Modernizing the sector and change Nigeria from being a country of self-subsistence farmers to that of a medium scale farming nation. This could guarantee a minimum price for selected crops and facilitate storage of agricultural products as and when necessary.

The children are the future but this government has been ignoring the fact that the education sector is equally important.Public schools are not well funded and thereby studies are lagging. The aim is putting 10 to 15% of the country's annual budget while contributing continuously on different occasions and also investing in training of quality teachers in all level of education .I will also ensure that women rights are embedded into the constitution and they ate allowed of active participation in the county's governance.

Tackling corruption in Nigeria is not going to be an easy task since it has been Imbedded in the Nigeria's economy. But first of all I will ensure that there is strong uphold of separation of powers between the executive, legislature and judiciary so that they are free to check on the excesses of one another.

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said that the FCT and Lagos State reported a total of 58,566 crime cases in 2016/17. The bureau said that the FCT reported 13,181 crime cases while Lagos State reported 45, 385 crime cases.

To tackle the problem of national security I will be building of law enforcement agents in terms of quantity and quality as this is critical in safeguarding lives and property of Nigeria's citizens.I will also order for proper training so capable people will enter in the different forces as it is.instead of people just entering anyhow with the mindset of looting.

How odd is it that the giant of Africa cannot power its country and economy, given the level of technology and resources available to the nation.Ghana which is also a country in the West African region has been able to provide not just electricity but constantly provide electricity for their citizens. I will also provide for the free distribution of prepaid meters so that Nigerians will be free from the bullying of NEPA officials.

Now to the petroleum sector which I so much believe in since everything that has an advantage also has a disadvantage.Fixing the problems of petroleum sector for it to generate money major income for Nigeria once again.

Thinking about it it does not make sense for a country of over 100million people have just four refineries. How will it meet their daily needs?Even the ones we have are very outdated and can't do more refining.
Refineries are needed to solve the problem of scarcity, and save us the billions we spend on subsidy and importation. How can we have just 4 refineries in this our giant population. We need new and functional refineries that can produce at least 70% of our energy needs.

For the refineries I will build more refineries and upgrade the ones we already have to stop importation of refined oil.

Also pipeline vandalism which is occurent in the Nigerdelta because of poverty. For most people considering it because of poverty they will not think about it because of the poverty allievation program which I believe will reduce poverty.

Nigeria has the capability and all the resources all it needs is proper allocation and copperatio from those in Nigeria. So with all hands on deck Nigeria can achieve great things.I believe the citizens will be happy because life would be a lot better.
                                                       Thanks you,
                                          Sholanke Omotoyosi.
