AIR-CLINIC WRITING CONTEST: MY NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE
I awoke with a start, the first thing I registered was that there was a carnival going on somewhere. I was momentarily confused as I looked around my cozy room and through shadowed hazes, I saw no one. All was still. It was then that I realised the celebration was taking place in my head and apparently, someone decided to bring a hammer along.
I tried calling out. I knew I needed help. I had had one of my fainting spells again. Panic gripped me as my mouth opened but no words flowed. I tried again and again until faint whispers started hitting the air. But it was not loud enough to gain any attention.
I tried standing, only to land with a loud thud, back on a mattress. It was then I knew I was in trouble. I needed help and I needed it fast. Sadly, it was obvious it was not forthcoming. I could not even locate my phone. So that was also a lost cause.

So I laid still, as the tears flowed. I waited for the flashes to begin and when they didn't, I started recalling all my moments. Highs and lows. Examining myself. I quickly asked for forgiveness, as I convinced myself this was it. Slowly, I started disconnecting from the world. I could feel my spirit leaving.
Then the light came. And with relief, I embraced peace. I had made it to paradise. It wasn't so bad at all. However, the voice I heard was not of God. But a rather familiar one.
"Rise and shine."
I opened my eyes then as the opened curtain came into view, the sunrays from the window momentarily blinding me. My sister was beside me in an instant
"Rise now. It's just a dream"
It was then I came to be. Indeed it had only been a dream. But the pain in my chest and sweat soaking my shirt had me believe I nearly had an heartattack. And just maybe, I almost did. Alas. It had only been a dream. But it had damned near killed me, still

I've also had dreams that frighten me so much that I'd think death is the next thing to come. No one should ever have to experience such, I'm really glad it was just a dream dear and sorry for the heartattack it gave you.
You are so right. Scary dreams. Thanks baby. It really did give me an heart attack.
Wait o, this story is true?
Horror dreams like this can be frighten. But it shows sometimes into our reality of life. Good one dear
Wow, it must have been terrifying. Glad you came out of the dream fine and well.
Great short! Nice, taut prose. Action moves quickly, readers are positioned on the edge of the moving scene. There is a good build up with an uncertainty that compels continued reading until resolution (for me specifically because I needed to understand what the actual problem was).
