THE DANGERS OF SELF-MEDICATION. @AIR-CLINIC
This post is based on experience a friend told me on dangers of self medication and why he will always meet experts
Most of us have family doctors but this family doctors are specialized in particular medical field, mistake most of us make is that we regard doctors as those who can cure all diseases, even doctors venture into curing sicknesses they knew is not part of their field.
My friend was sick and this affected his heart beat, a normal heart beat at rest is 60 to 100 per minute but his own was below 40. He went to their family doctor and what the doctor did was to apply intracardiac injections, this are injections used to resuscitate someone at the point of death and it increases heart beat. What the drug did was to increase his heart beat for some minutes and the condition remained the same.
Later he met a specialist and after much diagnosis his situation was corrected.
His second experience was, he went on swimming after which all sounds was interpreted to his brain as drum sounds he was unable to hear clearly. The same doctor guess it was water arrested in his ear, the doctor pour more water inside his ear in other to force the water out. This act is very dangerous as it can lead to ear damage. He later met a lot of other non ENT doctors after spending so much money his situation worsen he decided to meet a specialist.
What happened to him was later explained by a specialist, he said it was not water but it was pressure arrested at Eustachain tube making the ear drum to interpret all sounds as drum sound. He ask him to close his mouth, hold his nose tenaciously and blow breeze gently and the pressure immediately release and that was the end of his ear problem.
Although in this story no life was lost but it is too dangerous to indulge in self medication because this may lead to lost of life. All meet a specialist and undergo proper diagnosis before treatment.
