Drive safe, Live long "Air-Clinic"
The harmattan breeze blew gently across my face and with the melodious song of the birds, one could tell Christmas was here again. I kept admiring the awesome beauty of a wonderful Friday morning as I walked towards my car in preparation to travel down the East, to my hometown, to meet my family so we could celebrate the Christmas together.
As usual, being the Christmas Eve, the road was very busy today. I had not gone halfway through the journey when my stomach began to grumble for food. It was then I realized I didn't eat before moving. Thanks to God, I haven't driven past the newly opened Crunches restaurant beside the expressway. I quickly drove down to the new restaurant to satisfy my grumbling stomach.
Just as I entered the environs of the restaurant, I noticed a slight jerk of my car. I disregarded it as it was a frequent occurrence and hence didn’t require much attention. I ate a plateful of rice and was now sure of not hearing any more stomach grumblings. I was already halfway through my journey when the jerking continued. It lasted for a while and then would stop for a little while. Nonchalant as I was, I still ignored.
Moments later, just as I overtook a lorry whose exhaust fumes was quite frustrating, the bonnet of my car went in flames. Thanks to God, there was no vehicle in front of me and the lorry at my back was moving like a tortoise. In few minutes time, I was able to move my car off the road to a safe place. Thanks to God, I was safe. I searched for a nearby mechanic to fix my car.
After my car was fixed, I continued my journey. I was able to meet my family in the East in good health.
Christmas is here again. No doubt most of us will be on the road. Please, we should always remember to check our vehicles before embarking on any journey. Drive safe, live long!
