Sweet Sweet Codeine

It's alarming this days how people abuse the use of drugs, drugs like tramadol, codeine and the rest and then they get addicted to it. And when they try to stop they will have to be admitted to rehab centers just so they could to get back to their old self.

Today we would be focusing more on codeine. What is codeine you might ask?? Codeine belongs to the group of medications called narcotic analgesics.

Narcotic agents are potent analgesics which are effective for the relief of severe pain. Analgesics are selective central nervous system depressants used to relieve pain. The term analgesic means "without pain".

Codeine is an opiate used to treat pain, as a cough medicine, and for diarrhea. It is typically used to treat mild to moderate degrees of pain. It also works better when combined with paracetalmol. And unfortunately this days codeine happens to be one of the most abused drugs. In some countries like Nigeria, government burn thousand of cartons filled with codeine every year because of the effect they've seen it cause on people who became addicted to it.

• if you have a convulsive (seizure) disorder

• if you have cor pulmonale (that is abnormal enlargement of the right side of the heart as a result of disease of the lungs or the pulmonary blood vessels.)

• if you have recently consumed alcohol.
