Air-Clinic Writing Contest : Cough Cough Cough

Somewhere in Africa the sad faces at the resident of Mr Johnson could not be missed as people came offering their condolences.

"Good day sir,what's the cause of the sad faces? A passerby asked..

"A child just died" another person answered..

"Oh my God, What happened?" asked the passerby

" The poor kid had a cough. The parents didn't take it serious so instead of taking him to an hospital or to a pharmacist, they started giving him local herbs. It turned out that it wasn't an ordinary cough. It was a whooping cough also known as pertussis"

What's that?, I haven't heard of it" the passerby asked

"It hasn't spread everywhere, it's mostly in the U.S and has killed thousands of people there although it is vaccines-preventable" the man replied..

"Well why didn't they get the vaccines?" the passerby asked

"Like I said, they went for self medication which is very bad. We always advice people to see a doctor anything they feel that their body isn't responding too well but they just won't listen. Do you know that sometimes they end up spending much more they should have on self medication than in hospitals. It's like this people deliberately wants to die" the man replied and it was evident that he was angry.

"And now look at this poor child" the man continued "Dead. All because he had a cough cough cough" The said with a sad tone.

"How come you know this much sir" the passerby asked..

"Well I'm a doctor, my hospital is just a few blocks away. The poor kid was rush there this morning but there was nothing we could do, it was too late"

"hmm thank you for this knowledge shared, now I know how deadly a cough can be and how bad self medication is" the passerby appreciated.

"You are welcome" The doctor said and they both went different ways...
