Air-clinic writting contest: Stress the quest to make ends meet
Thank God its friday, that feeling of getting a rest after a stressful week of hustle is a luxury for the rich.
What choice do I have, especially now that I have a pregnant wife and my pay cheque could not pay my bills.
Double your hustle was now my mentality.
This is a story of a 25 years old boy who has just impregnated a girl and to make ends meet, rest is not an option. the thought of the responsibility ahead of me was my motivating force to take up a security job with a bakery plant close to my house after the hustle of the day as a labourer, sleep was now a stranger to me, I sometime have to steal it, while at the place of work as a security man, I need an additional job, I told my wife, you hardly spend two hour in this house, can you remember the last time we had sex? She asked, you are already stressed up I can see it in your eyes, you hardly recall information, the stress is hampering with your memory she protest, why not I start selling tomatoes in the front of our house to help out with the bills. That's a nice idea i said, the birth of zipporah sprang up a surprise for me, three month after her birth all my savings for a year, was almost spent on pampers, so I needed a better job with a better remuneration, I got one at maitana, at first, I thought it will be of less stress compare to the labourer job, but my guess was wrong, the stress was now in a different dimension, to beat the hold up from Maraba to maitama, I have to wake up 4:00am only for me to come back home by 9:00pm to resume my security work at the bakery by 10:00pm. stress, is a way of life for a modern man, I comfort my self with the saying to justify my teasing friends of my emaciated self. But at least my needs were being met.
