AIR CLINIC WRITING CONTEST: Stress, the quest to make ends meet!

Osai had settled into his cubicle at the counter just next to Tolu and Ella to his right and left respectively, it is Monday and easily the worst day to be behind the counter especially his branch at Wuse 2.

Over the weekend, He travelled to Benin to check out his poultry farm it had not been producing much eggs, on getting there he had to get some feeds as well as get a repairman to fix the lighting and do some maintenance which took the whole of that day and late into Sunday, he left by 5pm for Abuja and got back by 12am and couldn’t sleep much that night getting ready for work today.

He was finding it hard to concentrate, he was being clumsy, forgetful and his head is so aching him right now, he felt his heartbeat is was faster than usual, he was even wandering how he got this far into the day it was almost lunch time, it was getting worse and he began to feel light headed and his vision blur, the few seconds just flashed by as he felt himself hitting the floor.

He opened his eyes to see his colleagues Tolu and Ella beside him and he thought oh thank God I wasn’t asleep for long, but he was wrong because this smelt like a hospital and he was on a bed with blue bed spread, it could only be a hospital.

Thank God you are awake, we had to come and check up on you after work, the doctor said you were stressed out and you needed some rest Ella told his while soothing his shoulders with her right hand.

I can’t be stressed out; we do the same work so?

We rest, do exercises and take massages as well as have a good sleep at night so the job don’t take its toll on us, but clearly you don’t , Tolu admonished.

‘Na person wey dey alive dey chop money oh’ Ella added as they all laughed…Osai couldn’t agree more.
