What is an antidote?
An antidote is simply put as an agent which could be a drug or substance whose function is to alter, reverse, counteract or neutralize the toxic or hazardous effects or actions of a poison taken through ingestion, inhalation, intravenously, or even having prolonged dermal contact with a toxic agent.

Bear it in mind that all drugs are potential poisons, once an agent is identified as the causative agent that caused poisoning or an agent taken in overdose is identified then proper measures must be taken immediately to handle the case of drug overdose or poisoning with it's antidote.
