Healthy Things Successful People Do Everyday!
Welcome guys to my blog, it’s been quite long we discussed something medical due to the nature of my work, so today I decided to do another comeback.
As we all know, the definition of health still remains as.
the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being of a human being and not just the mere absence of disease or infirmity.
What are you going to learn from my post today?
You will learn healthy Things successful people do every day.
These are some of the healthy things I could come up with
Regular Exercise
The importance of exercise cannot be overemphasized. With the evolution of many technologies in the 21st century, humans have a tendency of living a sedentary lifestyle. This poses a great risk to developing myriads of illnesses.
Obesity/ overweight is a sequelae of living a sedentary lifestyle. It can also be genetic though. It is a condition where the normal body mass index (BMI) is beyond the upper value of normal (25-29.9). An overweight/obese person is susceptible to other conditions like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, coronary diseases etc.
Regular exercise is beneficial to the body because it helps to prevent the early onset of these diseases mentioned, and it also helps the body burn more calories, maintaining a healthy BMI.
RECOMMENDATION: 30-50mins of active regular daily exercise will keep you fit and healthy.
PROPER NUTRITION
Knowledge of the right diet is also important to stay healthy. As we know, too much of everything is bad, it can be catastrophic, and obesity can also arise from over- nutrition. There is malnutrition on the other extreme when you do not take the appropriate quantity of food to provide fuel for the body’s function.
The body needs the right proportion of nutrients in different quantities in order to function well, The balanced diet gospel has been preached for a long time. A balanced diet should contain the right calories required by the body, it should contain protein, mineral salts (e.g. Iron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, iodine, copper, selenium,) vitamins.
For example, zinc deficiency in diets may lead to impaired wound healing, calcium deficiency could lead to bone malformations etc. (Manganese, selenium) play an essential component of the body’s enzyme regulation.
A vegetable-rich diet should provide the required minerals the body needs to function.
ADEQUATE SLEEP
Sleep is another important determinant of good health.
Do you know the recommended sleep time?
• Children 6-12 years need about 8-11 hours of recommended sleep.
• Teenagers 13-18 years need about 8-10 hours of recommended sleep.
• 18years-adults need about 7-9 hours of recommended sleep.
Surprisingly, the sleep pattern has changed drastically, these days adults don’t even sleep again because they are saddled with the responsibilities of trying to make ends meet. They work extra hard, some even doing double jobs. The children are not left out as they could spend the whole day playing games and watching TV series at the expense of sleep.
Sleeping actually relaxes the brain and memory. It is also a refreshing experience for the body.
HEALTH SEEKING BEHAVIOR
It is disheartening that many people only go to the hospital when they come down with a particular sickness. By this time, the patient may need to be admitted in order for him/her to get better.
In Africa for instance, some do not even go to the hospital, they go to patronize ‘Quacks’ whom they believe have better knowledge of their problems, these quacks give out herbs /toxic substances with no scientific basis as a prescription to the ailment. These herbs have not been subjected to the different phases of clinical trials to determine the pharmacology, adverse effects, warnings etc.
When these substances are taken, it may cause damage to the internal body organs and may complicate the management of these people when they finally go to the hospital.
A regular checkup can help to detect occult sickness that would have been missed. It also helps to know your health status at any given period of time.
PROPER HYGIENE
The knowledge and attitude of individuals to personal hygiene differs per individual. Some people feel that it’s stressful to maintain a good personal hygiene.
- [ ] Hand washing practices.
Hand washing is the single most important factor relating to the spread of infections, not just for children but also for adults of all age.
Hand washing with soap for instance after using the toilet has been reported to have reduced diarrhea morbidity by 44% and respiratory infection by 23%. However globally, the rate at which hands are washed ranges from 0-34% of which 10% washed their hands with soap while the remaining 23% used only water.

[ ] DAILY BATHING PRACTICES
Daily bathing helps to prevent skin infections among children ranging from bacteria, fungi, to ectoparasitic infections and also prevent body odor among children.[ ] NAIL HYGIENE PRACTICES
The nail is also an integral part of the body and must be kept trimmed and neat at all times. Children with long dirty nails easily pick up germs while playing, which serves as a route of infection, resulting in several gastrointestinal manifestation and disease such as diarrhea disease.
Nail biting should be discouraged. The nails and nail beds offer a perfect environment for germs to live and breed
PUTTING A CHECK ON SUBSTANCES THAT GIVE TEMPORARY BENEFITS
No health education is complete without pointing out the demerits of a risky behavior.
An intake of alcohol greater than 80gm/ day is very risky as it may predispose the person to alcohol liver diseases.
There are more than 4000 substances identified in the cigarette smoke that are cytotoxic, mutagenic and also has carcinogenic properties. Smokers have a greater predisposition to cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) and lung cancerthan non-smokers.
With the rise in the prevalence of sexually transmitted disease, having multiple sexual partners would put a person at greater risk to contract these illnesses. The best form of preventing these illnesses is to use protection. There are male and female condoms made available that can help to protect individuals. Having unprotected sexual intercourse may also put you at a risk of contracting the dreaded HIV virus.
From the above, you would discover that staying healthy doesn’t cost much, Staying healthy is everybody’s dream, with the right information about health; you get to improve your knowledge and attitude towards your health.
The battles of life are conquered in our own identity and not another person’s identity.
Learn to smile always; it’s another great secret to looking young and healthy always. It cost nothing to smile.

this is a good approach towards relating health with wealth.
i have read in dozens of books that one's health has to be considered when trying to be successful. Success requires a lot of hard work and no one can work efficiently if the body and mind are unhealthy. Thank you
Pretty interesting, facts like these should be done more often.
Great reminders for a healthier me. Thanks
