Hi guys,

Welcome back to yet another edition of #MotivationalMondays.

So before we begin let's just see together what are Motivational Mondays all about? I have seen that people either want to begin working out and then they have some other commitments to attend to and then they never begin working out or they begin working out and then they don't continue the momentum forward i.e. don't even last a week. Therefore, these posts are going to be providing you some motivation/inspiration to work out so that you banish the excuses and make some room even if it's for 5-10 mins. for working out daily.

Alright, are you excited to get inspired then workout. Awesome. three cheers for everyone hip hip hurray .....

The story for today is about how an average school going boy became a world-class cricketer. So the name of this boy is Andrew and he is from Australia. Andrew loves only three things as a child: eat, sleep and play video games. However, he is forced to do his school work because his parents are of the orthodox get a degree and get a job type of mentality. He drags himself throughout his school years and gets just above ordinary grades. Then on 10th of May, 2003 he finally completes his schooling.

But a little something happens during his after school holidays. One fine day, Andrew gets bored of playing video-games and decides to watch television for some time. He flips through the channels " This is boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boriiinnnnnnggggggggggggggg". Then finally he sees a cricket match and that too the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003. Australia VS India. He gets inspired by Ricky Pointings batting and then the final blow to get him to change directions in his life is the victory of Australia over India. Now after 5 hours by 6:30 in the evening we have a motivated or rather inspired Andrew and he goes up to his mom and dad and says " Mom ... Dad .. I want to become a professional cricketer and play for Australia one day." But alas he has already missed the junior league tournaments that cements a persons place in the state and higher levels of play. Therefore, he decides that he will slog it off in his college years and try and fulfill his dream of playing for Australia for one day.

He has his college lectures to attend, assignments to complete and submit, after class studies with his friends for the subjects that he didn't understand, studying for his exams and most importantly cricket practice. Now from practical experience I can tell you that it isn't easy to do all of this. What most people would do is study in the last month before their exams, attend lectures or sometimes even bunk them for the sake of cricket practice. But what Andrew managed to pull off was quite astonishing. He managed to never miss his cricket sessions and even train a little extra whenever he got the chance and maintain a healthy attendance rate and get good grades like many B's and a couple of A's as well. And after a year of performing these activities day in and day out he actually became quite resilient. Now he was no longer the Andrew that was a lazy couch potato and a troublemaker for his parents. He had suddenly transformed into person that many began to enjoy hanging out with. Even his parents were amazed by seeing this transformation within him. It was something like this although this depiction is just exaggerated a lot here.

Nevertheless, moving on with the story. Within a year, Andrew managed to fine-tune his batting and fielding skills. Then after a year of rigorous training, he decided to go for the state level selections and try his luck out. But unfortunately, he wasn't selected because he had no prior experience. Andrew sat there a little depressed but instead of moaning and gloating over his results he decided to find out the reasons for his rejections. He went up to the people conducting the selection trail and asked what could he do differently so as to get selected the next time. They told him to play some little league matches here and there and then try out his luck. Even the head of the selection committee came up to him and told him that he liked his batting technique and his fielding skills but because he doesn't any previous match experience they don't know whether or not he will be able to take the performance pressure during cricket matches. They have seen many a talented players panic under pressure and therefore he would be better off getting some match practice through the litlle league games that happen all over Australia.

He immediately implemented on their advice and turns out that they were right in the first place. He did panic opening the batting and under a skier whilst fielding despite the n no. of times he had practiced them during his fielding sessions.

Now for those of you that don't know what a skier is this what it looks like and you need to be under one to know how it feels.

So, on the one hand, implementing on the advice of the head coach was very useful for Andrew and after a pathetic that is pathetic with a P performance in his first match, he made a lot of improvements during the course of the next 10 matches. Now on the other hand, if he had been selected to play for his state team then that could've turned out to be quite disastrous for him. The reason for that being is the performance pressure of that level.

Now the scoreboard began to show a different story for Andrew from 0's and 1's to 15, 30, 50, 60, 80, 100, 100, 100. His fielding also improved by leaps and bounds from this

to this

Then after spending half a year in studies, matches and training which is exceptionally challenging to do because all you want to do is sleep after your practice session but still if you don't study then your parents threaten you "no studies then no practice". FYI Andrew was still living in his parents house because he had cricket practice and everything else going on in his life. However, he could increase his burden by moving out and then getting a part-time job. But then that would literally suck the life right out of him. And nobody that much energy unless you're either god, goku or superman. Lol.

Alright, where were we, yup selection trails take two. He decided to show up for selection trails on the 15th of August and guess what he actually got selected. Woohoooo.

Now fast forwarding this life story to 2013. Andrew graduated college with flying colours, then got a job and managed to continue his cricket practice in the evening.

Finally, on 1st of October, 2013, Andrew Henry Williams accomplished to bag his baggy green. He had finally managed to fulfill hi dream of playing for Australia. Now what happened afterwards is a completely different story. But for now he has defied all possible odds and succeeded in his endeavours.

Now this is just a hypothetical situation and if you ( anyone reading this are trying to pull off an Andrew. Lol. Try it your own risk because it will be very exhausting. Trust me I know. And you might even fail several times and either give up which is not cool or succeed in the long-run. )

So if Andrew can stay committed to his endeavours despite being a lazy bumb to begin with then what is stopping you from working out 10-20 mins a day from Monday to Saturday.
