No, AI Isn't Coming For Your Manager's Job - But It Can Help

in #ai5 years ago

As AI capabilities in business moves forward, small and large companies alike are looking for options to include in daily operations. In many businesses, the goal of AI means delegating busy work and taking over time consuming yet predictable tasks as a means to free up creative energies. But is it possible for this technology to go too far?

Payroll managers face a 96% chance of automation overhaul in the near future, and they aren’t alone. In addition, property and real estate managers, administrative service managers, and even transportation roles are at high risk for computer automation. Though we rely on our human managers for everything between office cleanliness and climate control to maintaining open channels of communication, even AI is stepping in with solutions that don’t necessarily require a human touch.

But at its core, there are some things that AI can’t tackle. While hiring algorithms may screen resumes for potential hires, the hope of eliminating bias ends the very moment we feed our own bias into the machine. In 2018, Amazon scrapped an AI recruiting tool project after it began to show preference for male applicants over female applicants. Though this technology was state-of-the-art, the data it was fed to identify patterns was flawed, biased, and obviously sexist. AI may be able to organize resumes and even screen the content within, but hiring takes more than reviewing a piece of paper.

AI is smart, especially in business, but we can’t expect it to totally replace our management needs. This infographic details how automation tools are being used by business leaders and managers to uphold productivity, take over repeatable tasks, and how to identify which tech is right for your business.
