Godfather of AI Predicts Singularity in 30 years

An earlier post showed Kurzweil's prediction for the Singularity as 2045. Several other gave estimates of 2030 to 2049. "Jürgen Schmidhuber, who is the Director of the Swiss AI lab IDSIA, and heralded by some as the “father of artificial intelligence” was interviewed in this article. He predicts the Singularity will occur in 30 years. If my math is correct, that puts it at 2048. Ten years ago there was wild variance in these predictions among the very scientists who are creating AI. Some even declaring it would never happen. It looks as though the leaders in this field are coming to a consensus in and around the 2040's. We live in exciting times.
