GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT IN RICE FARMING.

The Federal Government , through CBN in conjunction with Bank of Agriculture is on a task of getting details of rice farmers details and their farm details to make them eligible for loans.

I was privileged to be selected as an agent who worked in Kogi State, I was part of the team deployed to Egbe, Isanlu, Odo ere,Agbare and Kaaba communities, all in Kogi State.

The capturing involved the use of a sophisticated device that has an application installed on it (Agromall app), has a fingerprint scanner and camera.

The Agromall app has sections namely:

1. Farmers details which includes personal details, permanent home address, ID proof, next of Kin details and account details.
2. Farm details which includes farm location details (address, vegetation type and flooding probability) and farm coordinates.
3. Input distribution
4. Extension service

I must confess that I was amazed with the turn out of farmers , they came out en masse for their capturing and the traditional rulers of the communities were not left out too.
Although they showed their displeasure at the way the government has been coming to give empty promises but they were still hopeful that this will change their stories.

It was really a great experience
