Lost a turkey this morning

in #agriculture7 years ago

I woke up to the farm this morning to see that our only black turkey (male) had died. When i went to give them food as their usual way of crowning for food, i didn't notice the black turkey.IMG-20180121-WA0004.jpgI went to their cage and noticed that it has died in one of the cages. I brought it out immediately to examine what might be the cause

Our suspicion is that it may have been attacked by a snake or maybe it just died because the turkey was very healthy and agile yesterday. The surrounding is clean and clear and there is no way a snake can be lurking around.IMG-20180121-WA0006.jpg Though we didnt notice any injury on it, we are going to spray the surrounding with insecticides today incase it was a predator alert.

Sometimes this is problem we farmers face that leaves us guessing and scouting for solutions. So sorry about this. It's hard to say it's predators as there was no obvious mark on it and i am sure they all ate and drank from the same source. Turkeys are strong and might not quickly display obvious signs. To be on the safer side, treat them with antibiotics and spray the surrounding. So sorry about the loss. I know how painful that could be.

Thank you very much. I gave them
antibiotics this morning. Infact, they were on Gendox (antibiotics) and yesterday was their second day on it

Wow! Really sorry. Do the spraying of the vicinity then.

it's a pity the fate of chicken the ... maybe he eat food toxic. color fur very beautiful and chicken it seems very strong.

I don't think its toxic food, because there is every tendency that others in the farm will equally eat the same food.

Yes. Other birds ate from same source and the rest are very healthy and growing

No it isnt toxic feeding. I can really pin a cause on its death now apart from my suspicions above

Dont be disxouraged brother.
Its well.

Thank you very much. I appreciate

Check properly, I strongly suspect it must has been bitten by a snake because turkey don't just die unlike broilers especially in this case you attested that it was not sick yesterday.

I am still doing a proper check around the poultry farm. Though the farm compound is clean, there is a possibility that a snake could have visited the farm and killed the turkey. Yes, turkeys dont just die

Losing animals is never fun on the farm.

Yes. It is always very painful

Very in pity it's a friend, why can die black turkey it?
What is sickness or starvation?
This turkey is very nice and beautiful.
Thanks you my friend

Thank you very much my friend

We once had a white turkey laying eggs in a barrel at our house. So as usual, I went there to check on her only to find her dead body with four eggs missing. She had a bite would on one of her legs which helped us conclude that a snake did it.

I know as these snakes dey do. Sorry for your loss bro
