Tpot contest No.11- African plant
Name: poliostigma thonningii
Nigeria name: kalgo in Hausa language, tawui in my tribe (gbagyi). I took the snap today being 16/03/2018 in a farm.
Description - the plant consist of broad leaves, and thick stem,they flourish during dry season and don't grow above 2 feet ,the plant have great adaptation for survival ,they don't produce seed nor fruit. The decay root automatical regenerate into a plant when it season is come.
It importance Poliostigma thonningii is the most used plant as herb in my village. It is believed to have cure for several disease. We still use traditional medicine till date. It is believe to have cure for cardiovascular problem, burns fat, heals wound and ulcer and belief to content nutritious content as vitamin c. I have once used this plant in school when I was suffering from an unknown illness and the plant worked just fine which means it has cure for several illness than mentioned.
How it's consumed - I don't really know how it's prepared but I have seen my grandfather who is a herbal doctor boil the leaves and the water is bottled for consumption and sometimes people eat the freshly shoot leaves.
