Two Presidents in Republic of Kenya
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has been sworn-in as 'president' of Kenya, bringing possible treason charges to the fore. The punishment is death but he said this is a price he is willing to pay. It is not clear what Raila will do since Kenya has president Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto.
Raila was to be sworn-in alongside Kalonzo Musyoka, but the Wiper leader was not at Uhuru Park on Tuesday afternoon. Raila said that Kalonzo will take the oath later.
The Kenyan authorities shut down TV stations to prevent live broadcast of the swearing-in ceremony. However the main TV stations aired the ceremony on their websites, YouTube and facebook.
The results of the August election was annulled on the grounds of rigging but President Uhuru Kenyatta won the re-run in October of which opposition leader Raila Odinga boycotted by not taking part.
Kenya, the largest economy by GDP in east and central is a presidential representative democratic republic.
