Our African child

When I was about ten years old, my mom travelled with my siblings, i was left with my Dad and at home.

It was a saturday morning and i made up my mind to do something great that will make my Dad happy and my mum to when she returns.

To mop the house, will not be a bad idea i told my self. So, i put some water in the rubber bucket. As i wanted to carry it and start cleaning the house, the bucket suddenly slipped from my hand and broke into pieces.

I was sad. But I felt really bad more because my plans to make my Dad say "you are a good boy", is gone. that statement makes me high inside anytime. I report my mistake to my Dad.

After my Dad saw the broken bucket, I was still explaining how I wanted to mop the house but he flogged me with his whip instead.

I became bitter in my heart. All i wanted was to make this man happy, I was only trying to be a good child, doing a job that i was not asked to? As i was crying bitterly under a tree outside, I vowed to hate back, i planned the evil i will do and then, leave that house. Revenge became my greatest wished.

Time cleansed my angry resolution but the experience left a terrible scare on me internally.

Transferred aggression in Africa is traceable to poverty and impatience kill the genius of an average African child.

They always flog out the problem solver in their children.

How to Make an electric airoplane with woods, and the world will know his parents as the parents of the one that invented an electric airoplane...Just as he was about to start his inventive construction, the mother would whip the living day light off him saying
"is it my very expensive firewood that you are cutting, have you finished washed all the plates in this house and sweeping the house, it's now airoplane that you want to build with my firewood, mr airoplane builder, i dont blame you because you have never used your pocket money to buy firewood. What do you expect me to cook the food you and your brothers will eat with..., my hair?"

Each statement is sandwiched with a slap, caurses and a spank.

Such kills thinking, geniuity and morale of the child and makes the child very bitter.

An average African child has no support whatsoever to be adventurous or inventfull.

Their innovations are killed before trying to start.

The genius in him gets a stupid mockery and from their supposed loved once.

His actions are judged and not his intentions.

Be careful when your so called mischievous child, causing problems everywhere and any where, Be careful enough to separate when he is being unruly and when he's being innovative and inventfull.

When he cuts your clothes with scissors because the tailor in him is controlling his head, yes you might become furious at first but please, see his/her good intentions, scold him if you want but, make sure you go to the market and get some pieces of clothes for him\her to practice with. Tell her/him to sew all he wants with the cloth. That is suport.

A dream suppressed in a child may never rise again and some times, it can tilt to the negetive side and the child will become a big trouble to the society at large.

The African child has no access to the best schools, best enabling environment, best of teachers and resources, which are natural disadvantages to becoming an innovator, thus, allow him the chance of exploring that equal advantage of thoughtfulness.

Meanwhile my Dad is a great man, am just an African child with African parents whose decisions are catalyzed by poverty and envioromental statusquo, they are great parents, but we the younger generation should be better. We should let our children evolve.
