AFRICA, MY AFRICA.

Africa, My Africa
A land that broke out of the chains
And fetters of slavery.
When bodied men and women travelled
Miles on foot while driven like lost sheep by slave masters.
Where our slave masters came with pants down
To rape our culture and heritage,
Our dignity and our pride.
And then place an unending chasm between
Loved ones.

Africa, My Africa.
A land where colonialism and imperialism
Tore our courage apart.
Where our prized assets and identity
Were carted away on the wagons of
European opperession and domination.
Where we stood helpless, hopeless and lost.
But the AFRICAN spirit prevailed.

Africa, My Africa.
A land where our founding fathers
Drew our road map to utopia.
But the plans were tore to shreds
By the oppressive and greedy killer
Machines of the men with barrels.
The Canaan of the world.
A land flowing with milk and honey,
But cursed with bad leadership.
Leaders who desire to tear the people apart
But cover themselves with the veneer of
Love and unity.

A land standing tall in the midst of adversaries,
Never bending to strokes and whips of foreign
Oppression.
A land never dark,
But constantly illuminated by the African spirit that
Succumbs not to any form of slavery or
Deprivation.
African must arise and stand for love and brotherhood,
For when the world despise Africa,
Let the black hand hold the black hand.
