Wakanda and Rwanda they both have nda and wa. I'm very sure the one who invented the wakanda name was inspired by Rwanda and Uganda. Rwanda is a small Country in Great Lakes region.
Rwanda is a landlocked country in East Africa with a green mountainous landscape.
Bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

I think thats why they made Wakanda sounds like an eastern african country.

But wakanda also is an Indian name that means "Magical".
It also sounds like it could be in South Africa, i mean Nkandla in is in Kwa-zulu natal and thats awfully similiar
I don have think that much thought went into it back in the 1960s. I think they just came up with a name that sounded "African."
Today of course, we are all more sophisticated so everything is reverse-engineered to fit together better i.e. putting it in East Africa and having their multiple tribes be a cross-section of Africa's real life cultures and tribes.
