South Africa’s Energy Supplier Eskom Warns Nation of Potential Network Collapse

Yesterday, South Africa’s main power supplier asked the nation’s citizens to turn of lights and power between 1pm and 10pm. The move, becoming a routine, was necessary to prevent a nation-wide energy collapse that might leave the entire nation without power.

This is what happens when Western infrastructure is handed over to Third World management. The official term for the power down is called ‘load shedding’. The company explained:

“We also have to save emergency water and gasoline supplies limit the effects of load shedding the coming week.”

About 2000 MegaWatts of power had to be saved. Eskom reminded users that is a most extreme measure necessary to prevent a national collapse of the power grid.
