Easiest Way to Save SteemIt

in #advertising6 years ago

I checked coinlore.com. The price of STEEM had dropped to $0.32.

We might soon reach the price where witnesses have a hard time paying hosting fees.

When I see things crashing, my mind immediately jumps to the question: How can we save this?

The easiest way to save SteemIt is to follow the path of Twitter and Tumblr and include advertising. The ideal ad placement would be a one line text ad at the top of the "created" and "trending" pages.

NOTE: the promoted page is already an advertisement that no-one bothers visiting.

The fact that STEEM is a currency creates a interesting ways for accounting the ad revenue. The platform could either add the ad revenue to the Rewards Pool or simply wipe out the STEEM associated with the ad. The ads would deflate the currency. So, if Microsoft bought an ad for 10,000 STEEM the system would simply make the STEEM Bill Gates purchased vanish.

The picture is just a screen capture from the #photography tag.

The actual advertisement need simply be a line of text that starts with the term "Advertisement" with text and a hyperlink. The hyperlink would go through a simple click counter.

Advertisement doesn't have to be evil. By increasing the value of the rewards pool, the ads would make most Steemians happy.

Speaking of advertising. I am happy to sell advertising on my personal sites for STEEM. I am asking $1 USD for 10,000 ads (that is a 10 cent CPM) for the first ten takers. The ad will will replace Google Ads. Most of my web traffic is in the US Mountain West. I will power up any money I receive from the ads. I have a small number of ads on pages about SteemIt that would be ideal for ads to SteemIt accounts.

BTW, the reason that independent web sites put ads on their sites is not because they are evil, but because they need to do so to survive.

There are some ad agencies such as Google, CJ, Facebook and others that are evil.

The question really comes down to how one does the ads.

Ads that match content tend to be benign. The advertiser supports content of interest to their niche market.

Advertisers that create user profiles tend to become evil because they seek to manipulate an individual's behavior.
