Data (= information) monetization is the issue that Wikipedia has. And not just them. A few hundred millions of other data providers have that issue, too.

They also have an issue of who is allowed to provide this information and make edits. When it began anybody could remove or edit data from Wikipedia. When certain corners of the pedia became a constant battle between contradictory views that changed.

Also, in its current model the steem blockchain would allow the whales to decide on the truth. This is also no real solution and so as @pfunk said in his comment, there would likely need to be some changes to accommodate a reliable wikipedia on the blockchain.

Well, the screenshot above was about the issue of data/information monetization and that´s what prompted me to hint on a bigger vision for the steem-blockchain. Sure, other non-monetary problems exist, too.

Thanks, I wanted to induce conversation on this topic as it as it seems these donation requests are becoming more and more frequent so I wonder if they are coming up to a make or break crisis. If so, it might be good timing for steemit but it's hard to know if our system would turn out to be a better resource for information or a mess of opinions. Perhaps the roadmap will give us a clue, but if this is part of the plan I imagine it was difficult for the developers to resolve with power differences on the platform being so wide.
